Welcome to So You Wanna Learn to Tap—a fun, supportive, and totally beginner-friendly tap dance class! If you’ve never tapped a toe before, or maybe you’ve been tasked with learning it for a show at the last minute, this is the safe, non-competitive space for you to discover the rhythm.

What to Expect:

- We’ll begin at the absolute basics: foot placement, weight balance, rhythm awareness, and the foundational sounds of tap
- Taught in a relaxed pace, the emphasis is on learning through joy—not stress or perfection.
- Classes are held in a hotel conference room with tap boards provided—no special floor required!

Who’s This For:

- Complete newcomers curious about tap.
- Actors or performers needing a crash-course in tap for a role
- Anyone who’s been intrigued but too intimidated to try.
- Ages 10 and up welcome. (Advanced or experienced dancers are welcome, too—just know the pace stays beginner-friendly!)

Meet Your Instructor – Raja

Raja has been an avid tap dancer since the age of 12, and his favorite part of tap dancing is working with beginners—showing that anybody can learn the art with just a little guidance. He strives to foster a fun, welcoming, and all-inclusive learning environment where everyone makes mistakes, learns from one another, and most importantly—has fun and uplifts each other along the way.

Tap Shoes – Encouraged, Not Required:

While tap shoes are encouraged for ease and sound clarity, they’re not mandatory. If you’d like to purchase an affordable beginner pair, here are some excellent entry-level options (please avoid high-end brands like Miller & Ben or LaDuca for now—they’re more investment-level):

Bloch Ladies Dance Now Student Jazz Tap Shoes – $47

Bloch Timestep PU Tap Shoes – $28

So Danca TA35 Beginner Tyette Tap Shoes – $20

If you are interested in getting a pair of tap shoes but are unable to acquire them due to financial reasons, please reach out to us—we may be able to help find you a pair or arrange a loan.
