ROCK OF AGES
It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip’s last legendary venues, a place where sex machine Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star (and resident toilet cleaner) Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes).
But the rock ’n’ roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri and the gang save the strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Only the music of hit bands Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and more hold the answer.
Presented in partnership with Bruce Hall of REO Speedwagon and Family, Horizon West Theater Company is thrilled to tell this story!
🚨
WARNING! THIS SHOW ROCKS… HARD. 🚨
Before you embark on this totally rad, headbanging
journey back to the ‘80s, please be advised:
This show contains mature content, sexual innuendos, graphic language, and adult themes—basically, all the things that made the ‘80s unforgettable. Viewer discretion (and a killer sense of humor) is advised. Strobe lights, smoke, and haze will be used throughout the show. If you suddenly feel like you’re in an arena rock concert… that’s the point.
Expect a non-stop explosion of epic ‘80s rock anthems—the kind that make you want to hold up a lighter and sing at the top of your lungs. (Air guitars welcome. Actual guitars... not so much.) So sit back, grab a drink (or a hairspray can), and get ready to rock. Because once the music starts, there’s no stopping this nothin’-but-a-good-time rollercoaster!
